Bungie Let Destiny 2 Players Get a PS4 Gun Then Took It Away

Companies screw up sometimes, and innocent players have to pay the price. In today’s instance, this involves Bungie and Destiny 2 players. Early in April 2019, some people on the Xbox One and PC found they were able to buy the Wavesplitter from Xur in Destiny 2: Forsaken. The problem? That gun isn’t supposed to be in those versions of the game.

Wavesplitter is a PlayStation 4-exclusive weapon in Destiny 2 . It is an exotic Trace Rifle. It showed up around September 2018 and apparently has a one year period where it can only be found on that console. It is a Harmonic Laser weapon with Polygonal Rifling, an Enhanced Battery, a Supercharged Battery, and a Fitted Stock. Essentially, it is really, super good. But, Xbox One and PC players aren’t supposed to have it yet, so Bungie took it away.

Technically, Xbox One and PC Destiny 2: Forsaken players who managed to purchase a Wavesplitter still have it. It is just trapped in their inventories. Bungie said the ability to purchase it was essentially a bug. So, while it fixes things, it can’t be equipped. It will sit trapped in storage until September 2019. That’s when the arrangement with Sony will expire. After that, people who own it can use it, and those who don’t will be able to find it in the general exotic loot pool.

Seems like a real shame, right? Did anyone take advantage of this Destiny 2: Forsaken exploit to get this gun? If so, how do you feel about getting it, then losing access because of a deal Bungie made with a company?
