The trailer video game movie fans have been waiting for has arrived. Sonic’s new look in Sega and Paramount Pictures’ Sonic the Hedgehog movie has been revealed. The new design for the Ben Schwartz-voiced character looks much more like his original self, which could be good news for fans. Suddenly, its February 14, 2020 launch could be looking a lot more welcome.
This comes after quite a bit of controversy. When the Sonic movie trailer first appeared, there were more than a few concerns. Dr. Robotnik, played by Jim Carey, didn’t really look like himself. There was too much of a focus on James Marsden, who plays the cop who helps Sonic. Also, Sonic’s look was all wrong and the proportions were all off. (He even had human teeth.) The movie was then delayed. It slipped from 2019 to 2020, as artists and animators went to work to repair Sonic’s look and give him an entirely new design.
Get a look at the recut version of the Sonic movie below, complete with the redesigned character. There are also new scenes that give people a better idea of Sonic and Robotnik’s personalities and motivations.
If someone liked the old Sonic the Hedgehog movie look, well, then it might be a good time to see if you can find any clearance Halloween 2019 masks and costumes. While the merchandise based on the movie didn’t really pan out, a mask and child’s costume were both released.
