Facebook Now Owns the Beat Saber Developer

Facebook Now Owns the Beat Saber Developer

The developer behind one of the most well known VR games has a new owner. (Seriously, it even has ads on Hulu. It has become mainstream!) Facebook has announced it will be buying Beat Games, the creators of Beat Saber . Expect this to be an opportunity for more support for the rhythm title.

The Beat Saber acquisition announcement came with assurances that everything will be business as usual for the developer and game. In a supplemental follow-up, Oculus Content Director Mike Verdu confirmed this won’t mean Beat Saber exclusivity. It won’t only be available on the Oculus and will still be on platforms like the PlayStation 4’s PlayStation VR. This is just about giving the company more resources while also boosting its own studio and brand. Future updates will also come to every platform.

This also means there won’t be delays for planned updates. For example, Beat Games has been working on 360 ° Levels. This is a mode that would allow people to play around them. It will still arrive in December 2019 as previously announced. Also, additional music will be rolling out before the end of 2019 as well.

Beat Saber has been known for its frequent content updates. One is the ability to mod the game, which lets people have more control over how it plays. It also has received regular song DLC. Panic at the Disco, Imagine Dragons, Rocket League , and Monstercat Music updates have given people plenty of more tracks to play through.
