Six Arrests After Ecko’s Graffiti Party

Six Arrests After Ecko’s Graffiti Party

None

Last week, despite Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s efforts to halt it, Marc Ecko’s graffiti block party took place in New York City. Bloomberg had tried to stop the party to promote Ecko’s Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure after he learned that the party would allow attendants to spray paint fake graffiti cars. He was concerned that this would lead to real graffiti on the streets of New York.

Well, it seems he was right. Six attendees from Ecko’s party were arrested for creating illegal graffiti on a nearby street after the event. All six were charged with misdemeanors.

Ecko’s lawyer responded by telling the Daily News, “There is no connection between the artists who performed at the even and ordinary, run-of-the-mill graffiti arrests. For the city to imply a connection is more of the same smear campaign.”
