Epilepsy Guidelines Announced

None

If you’ve ever noticed those warnings in game manuals regarding seizures but never experienced any ill effects from playing videogames, consider yourself extremely fortunate. The Epilepsy Foundation has released a series of new guidelines to avoid these unexpected seizures.

  • Sit at least 2 feet away from the screen in a well-lit room.
  • Reduce the screen’s brightness.
  • Don’t let children play videogames if

they are tired.

  • Take frequent breaks and look away from the screen every once in a while.
  • Cover one eye while playing and regularly change which eye is covered.
  • Turn the game off if strange or unusual feelings develop.
  • A good rule of thumb is to take a 10-15 minute break for every 2 hour gaming session. Don’t overdo it! Play safe.
