25 to Life has been stirring controversy lately because of it’s cop-killing plot. But now it looks life it isn’t the only game under heat from the law enforcement community.
NYPD Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly and the president of the NYPD’s Patrolment’s Benevolent Association, Patrick Lynch, have asked for a boycott of True Crime: New York City.
“It’s an outrage,” Kelly declared. “I think it disrespects all police officers and it’s done in extremely poor taste as well…It’s totally inappropriate. It’s a tough job, a dangerous job, and this undermines what police offecers try to do.”
He went on to condemn a former member of the department who was involved in the making of the game. The man he was referring to is Bill Clark, a retired detective, who has been a technical advisor to the television program NYPD Blue amd also helped design the video game.
“The cop who worked on this video should look in the mirror. He made it harder for everyone working the job,” Lynch stated.
“It’s a game, not a training video for the NYPD,” Clark defended. He also stated that the concerned parties should worry less about games and more about “getting cops more than a $25,000 starting salary.”
