25 to Life Delayed; Jack Thompson Declares Victory

Sorry fans, but Eidos has announced that 25 to Life is being delayed until 2006.

“Following the recent management change and restructure, Eidos is able to reevaluate its calendar of releases giving us the opportunity to make changes in the best interest of the business,” stated Bill Gardner, CEO of US Publishing for Eidos. “It is in light of this review that we have decided to move the ship date for 25 to Life from October 2005 into next year.”

Despite Eidos stating management change causing the delay, Jack Thompson has declared a victory for himself after the announcement. In a letter to the CEO of Eidos dated September 15, he stated, “I have been retained by a major charitable organization which represents surviving loved ones of law enforcement officials who have been slain in the line of duty…This organization and its members are extremely concerned that your company is set to release…what amounts to a “cop killing simulator”.” He continues by threatening a lawsuit agains the company and threatens, “By the way, this is not a good time for the video game inudstry, given the video game bill that is on the California Governor’s desk, for your company to be targeting cops in this fashion.”

And he then went on to post a message on Game Politics this morning that stated,””Guess what? Jack Thompson keeps racking up wins and you gamers just can’t handle the truty. What’s the truth? It is this: Adults with common sense and common decency who respect law enforcement are still running this country. Video gamers are not, and never will…”

Okay Jack, we’ll keep that in mind. Stay tuned to Cheat Code Central for updates on 25 to Life’s new release date.
