Satoru Iwata, President of Nintendo, recently spoke to Nikkei Business about some specifics about the Revolution’s launch.

“I can only say that it’s coming out during 2006, but it will be after the current fiscal year. We hope to make it a simultaneous worldwide release as much as it’s possible,” Iwata commented when asked about a release date for the new console.

The current fiscal year ends on March 31, 2006 for Nintendo, so it is safe to assume that the console will be released sometime after that.

Iwata also commented, “[The Revolution] would be a complete failure if we didn’t sell more units than the Nintendo GameCube.”

The GameCube shipped 18.76 million units as of June.

Commenting on the much-anticipated controller, Iwata explained that it uses several different types of technology, but he did not specify more than that. He did say, however, that the controller will be usable with any kind of monitor including digital projectors.
