We know many of you have been frustrated over the infamous “disc read error” problem that has been prominent in the PlayStation 2.
You weren’t the only ones. A class action lawsuit was filed against Sony Computer Entertainment America, Sony of Canada, and Toys R Us of Canada. The companies have chosen to settle the lawsuit although the settlement is still awaiting the approval of the US and Canadian courts.
If you have had continuous problems with your PlayStation 2, you will be able to receive $25 ($31 Canadian), a free game from a selective list of PS2 games, free repairs, or a replacement system.
Unfortunately, you will not be able to receive these until the courts have approved the settlement. The hearings are on April 28, 2006 in the US and May 11, 2006 in Canada.
