EA and Sega Offer Game Downloads

None

The idea of downloadable games is becoming more popular in the eyes of publishers. EA and Sega have both made announcements that show their progress toward this concept.

EA has new EA Downloader software that will make Battlefield 2: Special Forces available for purchase and downlaod over the internet. Gamers will even be able to preload the title before the actual release date of November 22.

The Sims 2 Holiday Party Pack will aso be available online on November 17.

“Digital distribution will keep content flowing to players, keeping their current EA games fresh and delivering new EA games quickly and conveniently,” commented Chip Lange, EA’s Online Marketing head. “We are always looking for ways to better connect with our customers, and EA is innovating to give our game-playing community access to exciting and immersive content.”

Sega is moving in the same direction. They have announced a deal with Digital River that will allow the company to handle digital purchases of games like Virtua Fighter, House of the Dead, and Eastside Hockey Manager 2005 on sega.com.

“Online distribution presents growth opportunities for Sega and we are poised to bring leading-edge games into that channel,” stated Sega’s Chris Olson.

This is a market that will continue to grow. Keep posted to Cheat Code Central for the latest!
