Nissan and Microsoft have developed a new concept car called the Urge that they have showed at a recent event in New York City. The technology-savvy car will allow gamers to live out their dreams of playing racing games like Project Gotham Racing 3 behind the wheel of a real vehicle.

The vehicle will have ports around the steering wheel that will allow drivers to plug in their MP3 player and cell phone. When the devices are plugged in, players will be able to recognize the driver through the cell phone and play music from the MP3 player. Bundled in the car is the driver’s own Xbox 360 that can be played after the driver puts the car in park and pulls the steering wheel slightly back. A seven-inch widescreen monitor will come down from where the rear view window is placed. Drivers can play Project Gotham Racing 3 using the real steering wheel, gas and brake pedals. Xbox Live will be enabled in the car so drivers can race opponents online.

Other Xbox 360 games are playable with a wireless controller, but the car is specifically designed for PGR3 and future racing games. PGR3 is only recoded for play with an automatic transmission.

The Urge has a bright yellow interior. The windshield is slanted more than the average car and extends down further, cutting the hood to half the normal size. The bottom windshield shows off parts of the engine. Both car doors have windows at the bottom that allow the driver and passenger to see the moving road, furthering the illusion of a fast car. A backseat will automatically fold at the push of the button in order to allow room for another passenger. The third seat is placed at the center of the backseat between two visible speakers.

We will be the first to let you know if this gamer’s dream ever becomes a reality.
