Dungeons and Dragons Release Date Announced

None

Turbine, creators of Asheron’s Call and the upcoming Lord of the Rings Online, has announced that Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach, the first MMORPG based on the game, will launch on February 28, 2006. The UK, France, and Germany will see the game open in March. Atari will be publishing the game. Customizable characters from classic D&D races, real-time combat, and private adventures will all be featured in the game.

The game is currently in beta testing. Over 250,000 players have already signed up for the beta test which allows Turbine to be choosy about who it admits. One developer says the only guaranteed way to get into the beta is to preorder a bonus pack of the game.

The bonus pack will include a poster, a code for a special item to be redeemed in the full version, a DVD of the beta version, and a pass to participate in the beta test for ten days. Preorders may also allow players access to the game several days before it arrives in stores.

The game has not yet been rated and will sell at a retail price of $49.99.
