Boy Molested by Man Met on Xbox Live

None

Internet safety has been a concern for a long time. With the reach of online capabilities continuing to grow, users must continue to be extremely cautious when online.

A fourteen year-old boy was molested by Ronnie Brendan Watts, a twenty-six year-old man from California. The two met through Xbox Live in October or November. They began e-mailing and Watts sent the boy some pornographic videos. Eventually, the boy gave Watts his contact information and the two met in a Santa Rosa park where the alleged molestation took place.

The boy told his mother about the molestation and Watts was arrested by the Santa Rosa Police Department last month.

Watts is being charged with the following California statutes: Sending Harmful Matter to Seduce Minors; Lewd Act upon a Child; and Using Minor for Sex Acts. The suspect’s home has been searched and his Xbox, PC, and a variety of cameras have been seized. Watts is scheduled to appear before a Sonoma County judge in January 20, 2006. He is currently free on bail.
