GDC 2010: Windows Phone 7 Committed to Gaming; New XNA Forthcoming

Microsoft announced this week that indie developers and established studios alike will be treated to new development tools for the Windows Phone 7 OS.

The new toolset, called XNA Game Studio 4.0, is a standardized development platform that should make it relatively easy for industry professionals to create games, both casual and more intense, core-oriented 3D titles, in time for the OS’s launch.

As confirmed a few weeks ago, games developed specifically for Windows Phone 7 will allow gamers to accrue Achievements for their Gamerscore as well as feature other desirable Xbox LIVE traits.
