Though the Star Trek Universe has had its share of licensed game fare, it's hard to believe that none have yet given the satisfaction of stepping into Captain Kirk's shoes. However, Trekkies will finally get the chance next year. Paramount Entertainment is planning on releasing Star Trek, a cooperative game that lets you play as Captain Kirk or Spock and Star Trek across the universe.
We don't know too much about this title yet, besides that Digital Extremes is on board to develop and the story is being penned by God of War writer Marianne Krawczyk. The only downside? Apparently the character models will be based off the 2009 crew and not William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy. But hey, at least we are getting a proper Star Trek game, so we shouldn't complain too much. The game is set to be released sometime in 2012, and is coming to the Xbox 360, PC, and PlayStation 3.
