Classic PlayStation 2 titles Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City have been listed on the official ESRB American ratings board for PlayStation 3 releases, leading many to believe that the pair of open world games could be finding their way to the PlayStation Store in the near future.
Similar listings for the titles were made back in January, although they were removed quickly. Their reappearance today should only confirm their eventual releases. GTA3 and Vice City were originally released for the PS2 in 2001 and 2003, respectively.
Unfortunately, no listing has been made for the next title in the Grand Theft Auto series, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, so it appears we’ll only be getting two-thirds of PS2 trilogy. The Truth would surely consider this a conspiracy theory.
Of course, neither Rockstar nor Sony have given any formal announcement of the titles, so it remains to be seen if the games will come packaged together, if they’ll be PS2 Classics or HD upgrades, and the like. When the word is given, we’ll let you know.
