One of TERA Online’s more compelling social features is the position of Vanarch, which allows one guild to have control over elements of TERA’s economy and even laws in a given zone, going so far as to enable or disable open PvP as they so desire. Guilds may gain the position of Vanarch by participating in Guild vs. Guild battles.
The issue is, the larger guilds have found that they can milk their numbers by splitting off into smaller guilds and conducting staged conflicts, smashing the opposition for easy influence. This has been met with tremendous outcry by the player base, which feels that En Masse has a responsibility to retool the political system to cull such apparent abuse.
Perhaps, though, this is intended as a biting, political satire of the modern election process, which favors those who have power and influence, rather than good intentions and compelling ideas. Such is the flavor of democracy, no?
