David Perry, the founder of Shiny Entertainment and creator of Earthworm Jim, has recently elaborated on why we haven’t seen a new Earthworm Jim game. The main reason? Success!
According to an interview with Eurogamer, Perry said that the Earthworm Jim team is just very successful in all of their projects right now. For example, Perry himself is the president of Gaikai.
“It's just a bunch of guys who all have their own thing. Everyone has their own company. So, to get them to stop what they're doing and work on a game is very difficult, but it's something they all want to do,” Perry said.
He went on to say that it’s just one of those things no one has time for right now, but he is absolutely sure that it will eventually happen. He couldn’t tell you when, but the allure of Earthworm Jim is just too strong for it not to. He even said that he and the rest of the Jim team has kicked around ideas on a private Facebook group they have. They even considered Kickstarter, though the amount of effort just to make a Kickstarter video may be more than anyone in the team actually has time for at this point.
