Lots of big names in the gaming industry have been leaving their positions lately. Now we’re hearing rumors that Greg Zeschuk is one of those names.
Zeschuk is one of the founders of BioWare, and according to German games site GamersGlobal, he will be leaving the company soon. Supposedly, he will be staying with EA but leaving BioWare proper. An official reason for his departure is unknown, but some theorize it may have something to do with the recent company layoffs that were passed down last May.
As of now, however, this is still just rumor. An EA representative supposedly talked with GamersGlobal about his departure saying, “Greg also announced the new GM of BioWare Austin and Old Republic, Matt Bromberg. Greg is still with EA. He's now back in Canada, taking time off and thinking about new projects. No change with Ray Muzyka.” This too has not been confirmed and an official statement by EA has still not yet been made.
If Zeschuk is in fact leaving BioWare, we wish him the best of luck in all his future endeavors. If he isn’t, then this is probably just another case of someone trying to stir up controversy over the current changing state of the video game industry.
