Anonymous Lies About Hacking Sony
anonymous.jpg

Recently, Anonymous claimed via Twitter that they’d hacked PSN, compromising nearly 10 million accounts. This is strange considering the PSN is still up and running as usual, and you’d think that a massive hack like that would end up taking the PSN down, like it did back in the summer of 2011.

Well, according to Sony, PSN has not been hacked at all. In fact, they claim that Anonymous’s tweet is completely and utterly false. None of their databases were compromised and the PSN will continue operating as usual.

The original post by Anonymous has been completely removed at this point. Sony’s original Twitter response has also been removed, but it’s since been replaced with an official statement. Anonymous isn’t particularly known for doing things just to get a rise out of people. They fancy themselves fighters for Internet justice. So this false claim seems like it is nothing more than an Internet troll. A harmless practical joke.

Still, considering the panic that the original PSN breach caused, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
