A YouTube user by the name of Drift0r, whose channel focuses on gaming videos and in-depth reviews of Call of Duty guns, has set speculation ablaze with a video in which he claims to have leaked information about the next Modern Warfare title, including its name and an announcement date.
According to Drift0r, the game will be called Call of Duty: Ghosts and, though it will be set in the future, the players will still use modern weaponry. This is ostensibly due to a cataclysmic event of some kind that either reduces or negates the availability of futuristic weaponry.
He claims that movement will offer more freedom, with more organic options, and that corner-peeking will be implemented (along with rolling while prone). There’s more, including the removal of Spec Ops mode in lieu of something new, but the key question is one of validity.
Drift0r himself has almost 300,000 subscribers on YouTube, along with almost 37 million video views across just over 700 videos. He says that his information came from a subscriber whom he “literally” trusts with his life, who he also states is part of the “Call of Duty machine.”
Either way, the truth will be revealed around May 1, when Drift0r says that the official announcement will take place.
