For those of you who were hoping to see a Mass Effect 4 next year, I’m about to officially disappoint you. According to a BioWare representative, Mass Effect 4 won’t come out until at least 2014. The specific window for the game’s release is late 2014 to mid 2015 and the details don’t get any more specific than that.
Full development on the title began a month or two ago, but BioWare isn’t ready to talk about it. More details about the project will apparently be divulged in 2013, which means we will probably have a surprise or two waiting for us at E3.
The next Mass Effect game will not star Commander Shepard. In fact, he/she will not be returning in any capacity. The storyline is completely unknown at this point. However, BioWare did recently ask its Twitter followers whether or not they want to see a traditional sequel to the franchise or a prequel.
Apparently, BioWare also has some plans for the Wii U, but they are not going into detail. Mass Effect 3 managed to see a release on Nintendo’s Console, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see Mass Effect 4 come out on a Nintendo platform as well.
