The Witcher franchise has drawn praise for its dark, mature storyline and impressive visuals. It has not drawn such praise for its multiplayer modes, because such a thing has never existed. With The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in the works, though, CD Projekt RED’s managing director, Adam Badowski, has humored the possibility.
“We’re thinking about something,” Badowski told Eurogamer, “but I cannot explain it now.” He apologized for the lack of information, but would clarify that it probably would not be anything like the Dark Arena mode that found its way into the Enhanced Edition of The Witcher 2.
What of the future? Could The Witcher expand into the MMO space? Badowski feels that a massive, online game would not fit the story. “There are many different types of games that can fit better to the universe or lore,” said Badowski.
