One of the most successful early MMOs, Ragnarok Online has become an entire franchise, with portable RPG releases tied into its universe, an anime series, and the Korean comic that served as its inspiration. A sequel was announced back in 2006, Ragnarok Online 2: The Gate of the World, but the game was confined to Korea, where it remained in beta until 2010 when it was cancelled. In its place, Ragnarok Online 2: Legend of the Second was developed and, now, is heading into open beta in North America.
Ragnarok Online 2 touts its extensive customization options both aesthetically and functionally, with “hundreds of unique equipment” items with which to deck out one’s character. In addition to storyline questing and PvP combat, Ragnarok Online 2 also features daily quests and a monster card system that can influence combat, as well as gather components and craft items.
The Ragnarok Online 2 open beta client is available now in North America.
