Ever since their February conference, Sony has been busy promoting the PlayStation 4, but Microsoft stayed relatively quiet about their next-generation system. Luckily, they seem to be drawing the curtain aside, having recently announced a “special unveiling” in Redmond, Washington, set to take place May 21st. The news was revealed through an anonymous source, but Don Mattrick certainly had a hand in it—his name is on the invite, after all.
However, we’ve learned that we won’t be seeing an official game lineup at this little shindig. Instead, we’ll be hearing about the basics of the system and what Microsoft intends to accomplish in the coming generation.
We want to know what’s coming out as much as the next guy, but it’s nice to hear a little something about the console’s structure as well, artsy-fartsy or not. Besides, E3 will invariably leave us with a slew of launch announcements to pick through, so the lack of an official lineup isn’t a deal breaker.
For now, let’s see look forward to seeing how the Xbox and PS4 duke it out in the public’s eye.
