EA Sports has been the developer for official FIFA branded soccer games for many years now, and it looks like they will continue to be for many years in the future. The gaming giant recently announced in a press release that they will be extending their licensing agreement with FIFA until December 31st, 2022. Under the agreement, EA will continue to be the exclusive developer for all FIFA branded soccer games and will hold the rights to all FIFA appearances in videogames.
Both companies seem very happy to continue doing business with each other:
“Our relationship with EA SPORTS is of high importance to FIFA” said Jérôme Valcke, FIFA Secretary General. “The FIFA videogames are a key experiential component in our work to communicate the FIFA brand and its values all over the world. This is highlighted by the 2.5 million football fans that have competed in this year’s FIFA Interactive World Cup, which is just one example of the power of our partnership with EA.”
