Following yesterday’s assurances that the 3DS and Wii U versions of Smash Bros. would be identical, with regard to character content, attention has turned to exactly who will comprise that roster. Besides the slew of Nintendo originals, including some new faces, Capcom’s Blue Bomber, Mega Man, has been unveiled, but what of the third party characters from Brawl?
Sonic and Snake were the first non-Nintendo characters to appear in a Smash Bros. game. Will those who developed strategies around them in Brawl be able to transfer those skills over to the new game or were they a one-game diversion, a flash in the pan? According to Sonic Team’s Takashi Iizuka, any reticence is solely on Nintendo’s part. Regarding Sonic appearing in the new Smash Bros., Iizuka said, “All we can say is that we also think it would be awesome if he was in the next Smash Bros. So yeah, but that’s more of a question for Nintendo than us.”
Come on, Nintendo. Make the fans proud!
