Good Samaritan Posts Bail For Jailed League Of Legends Player

Justin Carter was jailed four months ago after posting comments thought to be “terroristic threats” on Facebook in the wake of a League of Legends match. With his hearing fast approaching, though, someone has anonymously donated Carter’s $500k bail.

The original accusation stemmed from a post by Carter in which he wrote, “Oh yeah, I’m real messed up in the head. I’m going to go shoot up a school full of kids and eat their still, beating hearts.” Despite this comment ostensibly being followed with “lol” and “jk,” according to Carter’s father, the League of Legends player has been prosecuted and jailed.

Carter’s charge is a third-degree felony, which carries a sentence of up to ten years. Is his arrest the result of legitimate caution or post-Newtown paranoia? That is up for the court to decide.
