There was one mode that we saw at the Call of Duty event that we unfortunately could not talk about until it was revealed this week at Gamescom: Blitz mode. Blitz mode is kind of a strange, one-way race. The goal is to race to your opponent’s base without dying. If you manage to make it there, then you will score a point and will instantly be transported back to your own base. The catch is that the opponent is doing the same thing at the same time. So you have to balance sprinting toward the goal and playing defense in order to maximize the point spread.
There is another catch, too. When someone scores a point, there is a delay before the same team can score a point again. So players who ran to the base in a group will have to stand their ground and defend themselves as they get teleported back one by one by one.
Blitz was one of our favorite modes in Call of Duty: Ghosts’ multiplayer event. The gameplay is fast and frantic. The strategy feels like a great combination of attack and defense. Also, if you are an asshole sniper (like me), you can just find a place to camp out, stare at your own base, and pick people off one by one as they try to score points. Then they have to spawn back at their base and make the run all over again!
