According to a Square Enix facebook update, digital sales of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will be temporarily stopped. Why? Apparently the response to the game has been… dare I say it… positive! Unfortunately, Square wasn’t exactly expecting gamers to rush back to the MMO that many outlets described as one of the worst AAA MMOs ever. As a result, the company wasn't prepared for the huge influx of day-one traffic that it received. Yep, it’s this song and dance again.
By halting the digital sales of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, Square hopes it will have a brief period of time to expand its servers and accommodate everyone that wants to play. The question then is, will Final Fantasy XIV still remain popular after this self-inflicted embargo?
