Square Enix released a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD ReMix, the upcoming continuation of Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD ReMix, at the recent Jump Festa event in Japan.
The trailer itself features the well-known--supposedly fan-favorite--characters Sora, Riku, Roxas and Naminé, and of course Axel as well. In amongst the entourage includes Disney characters Donald, Goofy, King Mickey and more.
Essentially an HD reboot of the original Kingdom Hearts 2, Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD ReMix is presented in crisp, high quality textures and has had its gameplay mechanics tweaked and enhanced. What’s more, this reboot also features content from the PlayStation Portable Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep (with the characters Terra, Aqua and Ventus), and cutscenes from the Nintendo DS Kingdom Hearts: Re:Coded--both of which have also been rebooted in HD.
It was only within the last couple of years that I finally managed to play and finish the original Kingdom Hearts 2 on my PlayStation 2, even if I did have to borrow it from a friend at the time. Having watched the trailer I do admit to having a small spark of nostalgia, particularly when I heard the rhythm of the song Sanctuary, which reminded me of the first Kingdom Hearts game. Perhaps when I get my own PS3 I’ll go ahead and buy Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD ReMix to prepare myself for 2.5, and have a walk down Memory Lane whilst I’m at it.
Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD ReMix is slated for a 2014 release, exclusively for the PlayStation 3. If you're interested in hearing more about Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD ReMix, check out our review here.
