Popular indie fighting game Skullgirls Is getting a sequel… kind of. The new game, entitled Skullgirls: Encore, will change up quite a bit. Every character in the game will be rebalanced, and many have received new moves. In addition, a new “drama” system has been added to the game, which gives you a burst whenever a combo has gone on for too long. It also has a new lobby system, online training mode and more.
In addition to these game balances, Skullgirls: Encore will feature new characters and new stages too. The new version of the game will come with Squiggly, the first Skullgirls DLC character absolutely free. In addition, Big Band, the second DLC character, is almost finished and will also be given out for free. Encore will also come with free DLC costume packs as well.
And the best part? Skullgirls: Encore is completely free… for people who purchased the first Skullgirls that is. Refusing to make people pay full price for game updates, much like Capcom did with Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Arc System Works is doing with Blazblue: Chrono Phantasma, Lab Zero games is simply giving away their sequel to anyone who purchased the original game. Unfortunately, you will still have to download it from the PSN and delete your old version.
Skullgirls: Encore will be releasing on the PSN on February 11th. The game will be releasing on Xbox Live as well, but does not yet have a concrete release date.
