As reported by MCV, in terms of amount of consoles sold, Microsoft’s Xbox One has been outselling Sony’s PlayStation 4 for four weeks in a row.
This surge is due the recent release of Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall, which caused Xbox One console sales in the UK to rise by 96 percent since last Saturday, March 15. The Xbox One-Titanfall bundle attributed 70 percent of those sales by the week’s end. The Xbox One’s recent price cut was also a contributing factor.
Microsoft’s Corporate vice president Phil Harrison recently acknowledged the company’s inability to catch up to Sony in terms of current-gen console sales. He remained optimistic however, and compared the company’s situation to a marathon, a marathon where eventually the Xbox One will take the lead of the PlayStation 4.
According to MCV, retailers assure that the PlayStation 4 still remains in control, and that the Xbox One’s recent success was due to shortages of the PlayStation 4. With InFAMOUS: Second Son on the horizon, Sony is said to be preparing to bring in extra stock into the market in time for the game’s release.
