If you haven’t been paying attention to Lethal League, then you need to keep up with your fighting game tournaments. The game was featured as the grand finals of UFGT9’s mystery gaming tournament. At the time it was just a flash game, but now it’s getting a full release on Steam.
The idea behind Lethal League is this: you are two combatants trying to beat the crap out of each other, but you cannot actually touch each other with your own weapons. The only thing that can hurt you, is a glowing hovering ball sitting between the two of you. Smacking the ball rockets it off toward your opponent, and every time you smack it, it gets faster and more powerful. It bounces around the battlefield like a ping pong ball, and so each and every game is a dangerous bout of press your luck, as you try to increase the ball’s power without getting hit by it. Of course, then there are super moves and special moves and all sorts of other cool things to vary up game play.
ReptileGames, the developer of Lethal League has just posted the games first Announcement Trailer. Check it out, and think about downloading it on Steam later this year.
