As announced on the official website of Microsoft’s Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb, you’ll soon to be able to purchase digital download codes for select Xbox games and add-ons at participating retailers in both the US and the UK.
Starting from this month (August), these digital download codes will allow you to buy more digital content for both Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Xbox One consoles. This way of buying extra content is an alternative to also buying digital content via Xbox.com or via the Xbox Games Store.
“We’re kicking this off with digital download codes for select map and expansion packs for franchises like Halo and Forza, as well as fan favorite digital games including Max: Curse of Brotherhood and State of Decay. We look forward to adding more digital codes in the future from other publishers and in more countries in the coming months,” Major Nelson wrote in his announcement.
After purchasing a given digital download code from a participating retailer, you’ll be able to easily redeem said code on your Xbox 360 and / or Xbox One, or via Xbox.com.
In regards to digital content being available on the Xbox One, the Beta of Electronic Arts’ recently announced “EA Access” has now officially gone live on the console, and with it comes the ability to subscribe monthly to a selection of EA titles, exclusively on Xbox One.
We’ll bring you more Xbox-related news should further information reach our ears.
