Denuvo’s anti-tamper software has been showing up in headlines lately, with many questioning the usefulness of the service. Each new major Denuvo game lately has been cracked within 24 hours. Now, the service is making news, as a company generally in bed with Denuvo has launched a game with no sign of the piracy software at all.
With the release of the second episode of Life is Strange: Before the Storm, Square Enix has released a big game, or a piece of one, without Denuvo. This effectively removes Denuvo from the whole game. What makes this interesting is Square Enix’s history with the service. Games like NieR Automata, Tomb Raider, and Just Cause 3 all had it. And, the upcoming Star Ocean: The Last Hope 4K & Full HD Remaster is also advertised as having it.
It could be a mistake, which has happened in the past. Star Ocean’s listing could also be inaccurate. Either way, this news follows both Middle-earth: Shadow of War and South Park: The Fractured but Whole being Denuvo games that were cracked within a day of release.
