Everyone’s still trying to figure out the best way to monetize games after the loot box issue made things extremely complicated. Some games, like Battlefield V, are opting to use cosmetics are a way to get microtransactions in, but attempting to balance things out with free content that would have been season pass-type stuff before. Turns out, BioWare’s Anthem will have a similar plan.
During PAX West 2018, Game Rant reported that BioWare has announced that not only will Anthem have plenty of post-launch, story-based DLC, but all of it will be released free of charge. BioWare did not provide details on what any of the post-launch content would be or how it would be delivered specifically, but we do know whatever it is, we won’t be charged for it.
Anthem will not shy away from having microtransactions of some sort, although what those will be has not been confirmed either.
