Fortnite Relationship with Marvel Could Last Years

Fortnite has been hugely popular for a couple years now and doesn’t show signs of stopping. Likewise, Marvel has been hugely popular for a couple decades, and that is almost certainly going to continue to be the case with new movies and shows on the horizon. A recent statement by Fortnite’s Wordwide Creative Director, Donald Mustard, seems to indicate that these two properties might be combining their powers and teaming up for “many, many, many years.”

The current season of Fortnite is called Nexus War and, according to Mustard, is the beginning of a superhero story that should unfold for a while yet.

It’s certainly an unusual approach for a multiplayer battle royale game. Back when Fortnite first did its Infinity Gauntlet event, it didn’t seem to many like this was in the cards but recent Marvel related events have been building up to it. Mustard has said that there’s a mythology to explore, though, and that they will be treating the game’s map, the island, as the main character.

The island will represent a metaverse that uses different properties to tell its stories. Player interactions are expected to help shape that story going forward.

Phil Spencer Talks ZeniMax Exclusivity

Recently Microsoft announced its intention to acquire ZeniMax, which led to a lot of speculation in the gaming industry, especially in regards to how it would effect exclusivity in regards to the games produced by ZeniMax subsidiaries like Bethesda. Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, addressed some of these concerns in an interview with Gamereactor that was published on October 26, 2020.

One thing that he wanted to make clear was that Microsoft hasn’t yet acquired ZeniMax. “We have announced our intention to acquire ZeniMax. It is going through regulatory approval and we don’t see any issues there. We expect early in 2021 the deal will close,” says Spencer. He then went on to say that it isn’t his job to go through the ZeniMax portfolio and dictate what is going to happen. Instead, he says Todd Howard, of Bethesday, told him “I wanna build the best games that I’ve ever built and I want the support of Microsoft to be able to do that.” In regards to Bethesday, and other ZeniMax studios like Arkane and id Software, Spencer then said “I want them to do the most amazing work and support them in doing that.”

Spencer is also on record saying he think it’s true that gaming is better “if more people get to play more of the great games in [Microsoft’s] ecosystem.” That is opposed to people simply playing on a Microsoft console.

Save Transfers and Performance Details for God of War on PS5

Sony Santa Monica recently revealed via its official Twitter account new information about playing God of War (2018) on the PlayStation 5.

The game, which was originally released for the PlayStation 4, will be able to make use of save files from the PlayStation 4 so players can continue their progress on the new system. Additionally, there will be a “favor performance” video option that will enable the game to run at 60 fps.

The game also had a “favor performance” mode on the PlayStation 4 for users who played it on the PlayStation 4 Pro. Without this mode, the game was meant to run at 30 fps, and even with the performance mode enabled, it wouldn’t consistently hit 60 fps. The PlayStation 5 should be able to get more consistent numbers.
