Video Game Industry Supports Hillary Clinton with Fundraiser

Video Game Industry Supports Hillary Clinton with Fundraiser

None

We thought they were disagreeing with her, but now Doug Lowenstein, Entertainment Software Association (ESA) President, and Steve Schnur, worldwide executive of music for Electronic Arts, are co-hosting a $1,000-per-plate fundraiser for Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) at the Phoenix Park Hotel in Washington D.C. on September 14, 2005.

Despite her moral convictions against the video game industry, Clinton has had no problem accepting this fundraiser.

After Clinton spoke out against the video game industry and the ESRB by requesting new legislation that would ban mature game sales to minors, Lowenstein responded with indignance.

“The legislation proposed by Senator Clinton is unconstitutional…We hope that after further reflection and dialogue, Senator Clinton will abandon the bill and work cooperatively with the industry,” he commented.

Apparently, “further reflection and dialogue” meant “let’s buy her over to our side”. And Clinton’s acceptance of their fundraising dinner may just prove that they are doing so successfully.
