Binding Of Isaac Console-Bound

Binding Of Isaac Console-Bound

Edmund McMillen, of Super Meat Boy fame, has made a name for himself in the solo development field with The Binding of Isaac, a dungeon-crawler that combines elements of rogue-likes and twin-stick shooters with Zelda-esque layouts and disturbing, grotesque imagery. After a sizable content update, in the form of Wrath of the Lamb, and an aborted attempt at a 3DS eShop port, McMillen is ready to take his pet project into the mainstream.

Citing all consoles, including the upcoming OUYA, as release targets, McMillen has declared his intent to remake The Binding of Isaac, originally a flash title, in a more traditional development environment. This remake will include new modes, bosses, items, playable characters and, if McMillen is to be believed, a co-op mode (probably one of the game’s most requested features, given how naturally its twin-stick shooting mechanics lend themselves to a multiplayer environment).

Will the existing Flash version get equivalent updates? McMillen cites technical issues in updating the Flash game at all, much less overhauling it on this sort of scale.
