Square’s teaser site ended up being exactly what everyone thought it was going to be: Star Ocean 5 . The game is currently in development over at Tri-Ace, though a release date has not yet been given.
The game, fully entitled Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithlessness , will take place in between Star Ocean 2 and Star Ocean 3 . It will take place on a planet called Feycreed, which is 6,00 light years away from earth. Three characters have been announced so far:
Fidel Camus: The protagonist. He specializes in swordsmanship, and maintains the peace and order of the town.
Miki Sorvesta: The heroine. She’s a childhood friend of the protagonist, and loves Fidel like an older brother.
Lilia: A young girl who has lost her feelings and memories.
Battles will take place in real time, like previous Star Ocean games, and will focus on combos and defense. In addition, there will be scenes in the game in which characters can be attacked, not necessarily in battle. How the player responds to these scenes will determine what characters survive in the game and what endings you can receive.
There will also be multiple different types of battles, with boss fights differing from normal fights. Supposedly, boss fights will involve every character teaming up on humongous bosses and fighting them in different ways, though more details of the system have not yet been revealed.
Supposedly, Star Ocean 5 will feel most like Star Ocean 3 . We will reveal more about the game as info becomes available.
