The Last Guardian’s New Trailer’s a Bonding Experience

The Last Guardian’s New Trailer’s a Bonding Experience

With The Last Guardian , we’ve always seen bits and pieces of the adventure. Sony’s really never shown us substantial shots of gameplay and the game’s start. But now, Sony Japan has shared a nine minute video that goes over the introduction and shows how players work with Trico to form a bond and get it to do things.

Trico is very hostile in the opening of this The Last Guardian video. Which isn’t too surprising, due to some gook covering him, weapons stuck in his leg, and a chain around his neck. We see that the boy needs to build up trust by removing the weapons from Trico, getting barrels filled with some sort of food for him, and setting him free. Eventually, Trico even allows itself to be petted. As the video goes on, we see how the boy can call Trico’s attention when he needs his aid and use further barrels to lure it to places.

Here’s that The Last Guardian trailer.

The behavior of Trico early on makes me wonder if it isn’t initially a more hostile creature. He’s rather violent to the boy when they first meet. Even when he’s showing him kindness. Those glowing eyes are pretty menacing. And he certainly has no problem attacking other enemies. Maybe both the boy, with his tattoos, and Trico are dangerous and locked away for a reason? I guess we’ll have to wait and see!
