Nintendo is Going to Make a Lot More Switches

Have you been dying to get your hands on a Nintendo Switch, but just haven’t been able to find one? Maybe you’re not willing to pay the $450 gray market sellers are trying to get for them? You’re in luck! According to the Wall Street Journal, Nintendo is doubling production of the Switch to meet demand. 1.5 million systems have already been sold in the first week, but it’s clear this momentum is just getting started and people want more!

The Wall Street Journal also reported, “In the fiscal year starting April 2017, assemblers under contract with Nintendo are now planning to manufacture 16 million or more Switches, up from the initial plan for eight million. Even after accounting for inventory, that suggests Nintendo believes it can sell significantly more than 10 million units during the 12-month period.”

Nintendo has mentioned that the Switch is outselling the Wii. That is, if you look at the launch sales. We won’t know if its a real success for at least a few years, though!
