Bethesda Talks About Rage 2 Gameplay

As planned following the initial announcement yesterday, Bethesda has followed up the Rage 2 reveal with an accompanying gameplay trailer. Developed primarily by Avalanche Studios with some involvement by id Software, Rage 2 looks like DOOM and Max Max tossed into a blender, with a little cotton candy (I’d argue Fist of the North Star , but I’m a dork) dashed on top. Considering those games were made by the two devs involved, it all makes perfect sense.

Rage 2 is a post-apocalyptic open-world, with what looks like tons of scale, from enemy numbers to vehicular combat and even some sort of powers or abilities. Footage is shown of Mad Max -like car combat (again referring to the game) combined with FPS gunplay. We see both human-sized and gigantic enemies, and what could be some sort of squad or team element as well. Lots of bodies fly around in the trailer.

Rage was never a huge game, coming out originally to a fairly middle of the ground response from gamers and critics. But Bethesda likes to keep old IP alive, and this definitely looks like a fresh take. It’s still a bit hard to tell what the actual tone of the game is, but the wide range of color certainly suggests we’re here to have fun.
