Loot Boxes Coming to Street Fighter V

Loot Boxes Coming to Street Fighter V

Street Fighter V is getting another big update on June 25, 2018, and there’s already some backlash over one of the new features. That feature is Fighting Chance, which is a new loot box-style system that opens up a new option for players to spend their Fight Money on boosts for Survival Mode and other content.

Menat, one of the newer characters for Street Fighter V , has a new shop, and you can pay 500 Fight Money for a Fantasy Fortune Reading. These spit out items, some you can only get through this system. These items comprise Battle Goods for Survival Mode, new colors, art, and rare costumes. The costumes are what has the community upset, as they’re pretty cool and only available through playing the loot game. One such costume is an alternative for Cammy based on her appearance in Dreamcast shooter Cannon Spike . Capcom plans to add more costumes in the future, likely just as appealing nods to the company’s history.

The items that come from this system are, of course, either cosmetic only or just for Survival Mode, which already had similar boosts in place. Fight Money doesn’t cost real money either, although it can also be cashed in for content that does cost real money. The negativity is focused on that part in particular, as some fans believe it’s an attempt to distract from that, which is already a huge grind.
