Rage 2 Won’t Have Loading Screens

Rage 2 Won’t Have Loading Screens

According to an interview in the UK’s Official PlayStation Magazine, the world and play for Rage 2 will be a much different experience compared to the original. That includes a distinct lack of loading screens from one area of the game to another.

In speaking to Tim Willits, who was involved with both games, the running narrative is that the original Rage didn’t deliver on the promise of its concept. It was an early attempt at an open world game from id Software, and it didn’t quite work out. There was a separation of sorts between the open world, and the shooting action. This led to the open world being more about travel, and the shooting being separated into more claustrophobic spaces that had to be loaded in separately, creating a disconnect for the game and the player.

Now, with the combined efforts of id Software and Avalanche Studios, and of course vastly improved technology, that won’t be the case with Rage 2 . Now, “you’re just in the game. Everything is seamless and together, and you can engage in combat the way you want. The promise of Rage is delivered in Rage 2 .”
