New Red Dead Redemption 2 Trailer Looks at Life in the West

New Red Dead Redemption 2 Trailer Looks at Life in the West

This morning, Rockstar unveiled its first look at in-game play for Red Dead Redemption 2 . It was a broad strokes sort of presentation, but did a lot to provide information on the kinds of things players will be doing throughout the game. From building bonds with fellow gang members, to hunting, to raising horses, Red Dead Redemption 2 is going to be a massive game.

As we know, we play the role of Arthur Morgan, member of a prolific gang out outlaws. One of the big components of Red Dead Redemption 2 appears to be maintaining your gang, establishing relationships with the individual members, and providing supplies. Through this, you can see little stories, get access to side missions and other content, and other secrets.

Interacting with animals has also been massively expanded from the first game. There are different kinds of environments, from the familiar mountains and deserts to places like swamplands and forests. All kinds of different animals live in these places, and players can hunt them for pelts, which can be traded for money. There’s also way more to do in the way of raising horses. The player will actually form bonds with these animals, taking care of them, using them for various tasks, and improving their skills out in the frontier.

Finally, the Red Dead Redemption 2 combat has been “improved,” with changes to how fighting works, and more realistic properties for the various weapons. The gameplay video didn’t go into further detail this time, but subsequent presentations will do that, and talk more about things like the deadeye mechanic, missions, robberies, and more.
