Overwatch’s Next Character Is a Bad Guy Who Defected

Overwatch’s Next Character Is a Bad Guy Who Defected

A new hero has been announced for Overwatch. Blizzard has revealed Jean-Baptiste Augustin will be the game’s 30th member of the cast. He is going to be a Support type hero, joining Ana, Brigitte, Lucio, Mercy, Moira, and Zenyatta in the fight to keep all of those other characters, even Genji, alive.

Baptiste is interesting, in that he was a bad guy turned good. (Unlike all of the good guys turned bad, like Reaper, Moira, and Widowmaker.) Baptiste was a Talon medic who joined after watching his home destroyed by the Omnic Crisis as a child. However, he realized his actions with Talon were doing the same thing to other children. The healer and sharpshooter then defected.

Here’s Baptiste’s introductory video.

We don’t know when Baptiste will be playable, but the free hero will be coming soon. Expect someone who can heal and deal damage. Expect to see him on the PTR on PCs first.

Prior to Baptiste, Blizzard revealed Ashe in November 2018. In the video featuring her and McCree, we also met a new female robot. Perhaps she could be the next heroine to join the cast?
