Turtle Beach Launches Affordable Recon 70 Line

Turtle Beach Launches Affordable Recon 70 Line

People looking for a gaming headset, but also wanting to remain a little more budget conscious, have a new option. Turtle Beach has announced a line of Recon 70 headsets . Each one is only $40, but has all of the amenities you expect from Turtle Beach equipment while giving people something that could work well on their current consoles, PCs, and mobile devices.

There are six styles of the Recon 70 headsets, and each one has a name like Recon 70 – Nintendo Switch or Recon 70 – Xbox One. Don’t let that scare you, as that refers more to color scheme. (For example, the Recon 70 – Nintendo Switch is black and red.) As the specific product pages for each one points out, every headset is compatible with the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and both Android and iOS phones and tablets. Each one of these wired headsets has a 3.5mm jack that lets you plug right in. This should be especially easy for people on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, since the 3.5mm jack is in the controller.

They also each have the different technical advantages you expect. Every one has 40mm, neodymium magnet, over-ear speakers. There is also a 12Hz-20kHz response, to offer a better range of sound and allow you to hear higher pitched tones and low base notes. That should help you better pinpoint where people are or hear the people you are playing games with.

The ear cushions are wrapped in synthetic leather and are designed to be as comfortable as possible. Plus, they also help hold the sounds in better, so you can remain in the zone. The sounds of games (or music, or movies) are locked inside, while the ear cushions also help keep the noise around you out. Think of it as a sort of noise canceling.

In addition to the ear cushions being padded, the headband is as well. The goal is to try and keep Recon 70 headsets comfortable in the event people are wearing them for a long period of time while playing a game. This means there is synthetic leather and foam cushioning built-in there too.

Finally, there is a degree of control offered with the Turtle Beach Recon 70 headsets. Each one has an omni-directional microphone built into it. It should capture everything you are saying. But, if you need a moment, muting it is as easy as flipping the microphone up. Also, if you need to adjust your volume, there is a master volume control built into it, so you don’t have to fumble with controls on a PC, Switch, or mobile device or grab a TV remote for turn down the sounds of a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.

Each Turtle Beach Recon 70 is $39.95. The official website notes that the Nintendo Switch red and black color scheme headset is available to buy now, while preorders for the other five options are available.
