People Will Own Their Stadia Games, Even if Delisted

Google has updated the Stadia FAQs on its official website , offering lots of details regarding what people can expect when the service launches in November 2019. There’s good news for people who were concerned about what might happen if a game is delisted from the service or they happen to unsubscribe to Stadia Pro. However, people hoping for support for multiple phones at launch or news about VR will be disappointed.

One of the important questions in the facts asked, “What happens to a game I bought if the publisher stops supporting Stadia in the future? Can I still play the game?” Google has confirmed that when someone buys a game through Stadia, it is their game. They own the license to it and will always be able to access it, even if it is delisted. It will just be unavailable for new purchases in the event that happens. It did note there could be unforeseen circumstances, but it looks like people will get to keep the games they buy and have them tied to their Google accounts.

As for phones, only a few will support Stadia at launch. Specifically, only the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3a. So if you have a 3a, 3a XL, 3, or 3XL, you will be fine. The Stadia app will be available for Android and iOS devices in general though, and people will be able to purchase games through it.

Finally, VR fans will be let down for the moment. Google hasn’t confirmed or denied Stadia VR support. It said it has no news to share just yet. It also noted that it had nothing to say about it working with Daydream View, its own VR headset option.
